Être Bon Gallery and Academy, Boncafé’s coffee gallery and training facility, turned one year old on 11 February. A year on from its launch and opening of doors to welcome coffee aficionados and barista potentials, Être Bon Gallery and Academy has gone through an exciting and eventful year of activities and events, bringing it to its very first milestone in 2010.

"Être Bon Gallery and Academy was a project that the Boncafé team was very excited to work on and bring to completion," according to Christian W. Huber, managing director of Boncafé International. "It was and is our hope to bring the Coffee Journey story to all who love coffee, as well as to help those who want to become skilled coffee baristas, to achieve their dream. It’s all about the art of being good."

In the past year, Être Bon Gallery and Academy has done exactly that – training Boncafé customers’ staff and team members on coffee making, barista skills, as well as having people sign up for barista courses and Coffee Journey tours. Être Bon was also the venue of many lunch gatherings and afternoon coffee sessions with people who love coffee, making it a very busy and eventful year for this baby!

A series of activities and events took place last week to commemorate and celebrate Être Bon Gallery and Academy’s very first birthday.

"We signed an MOU with ITE (Institute of Technical Education) on the partnership and collaboration between ITE and Boncafé to design and make available a coffee knowledge and skills program at ITE’s new regional hub campus later in 2010 on February 9," Huber said. "We also invited our neighbors in Pandan Loop in for a cup of gourmet coffee on February 10. On the actual birthday, February 11, we celebrated with our own Boncafé staff members with a lunch, as well as inviting guests and graduates of Être Bon Gallery and Academy to attend a birthday party in the afternoon."

Moving on from its birthday, Être Bon Gallery and Academy hopes to have more coffee lovers and barista potentials come through its doors in 2010, with ongoing barista courses, tours and other new programs added on to cater to coffee lovers’ needs.

One of the offerings to coffee aficionados is the Roast on Demand program which allows one to call Boncafé and order a quantity of premium single origin coffee beans from all the best coffee-producing regions of the world to be freshly roasted and packed to go. These would include coffees like Hawaii Kona, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Brazil Santos, and Ethiopia Harrar which, once ready, can be collected after roasting and enjoyed in the freshest state.
