A dry weather spell may affect maturing beans this year causing a drop in yields, according to Brazilian weather forecaster Somar Meteorologia.
“A lack of rains in the coffee regions of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Parana has already started to cause concerns for coffee farmers,”
according to an emailed statement from the company’s agronomist Marco Antonio dos Santos. He said that a lack of water wil make the maturing beans lighter and therefore one can expect lower yields as a result.
