K 30 for Bogota

Columbia
As the World Barista Championship takes place in Columbia this year, for the first time ever a coffee producing country acts as host of this competition. Mahlkönig backs up the WBC 2011 in Bogota as official grinder sponsor, marking the third year in a row the company has supported the World Barista Championship as its official grinder sponsor.
From June 2 - 5 the best baristas are going to meet in the Colombian capital of Bogota to elect the world`s best barista during a three-day contest. To a great extent this event is funded by suppliers of the coffee business who act as sponsors and thus provide their financial and technical support.
The competition is organized by the newly founded WCE (World Coffee Events) Organization, which holds the marketing rights of all WBC coffee-related championships.
Mahlkönig, as official grinder sponsor of the WBC, not only makes K30 espresso grinders available for the competition but also equips the preparation area, the coffee bar zone and special areas around the competition stage with various professional espresso grinders.
On the occasion of the WBC 2010 in London, Mahlkönig launched a limited special edition of their very successful grinder K30 Vario. At the World Barista Championship in Bogota there is a specially designed, limited edition model of the K30 Vario. The design of the K30 grinder, kept in white with a green floral decor, is geared to the logo-composition of the WBC 2011.
Apart from its commitment as sponsor and the supply of a great number of grinders for the whole event, the new World Barista Champion 2011 is going to benefit notably from the dedication of the Hamburg-based company to coffee quality, because this years’ WBC winner will get invited to the Mahlkönig headquarters in Hamburg in order to be introduced in detail to the world of grinding.
