As part of its restructuring plan, the East African Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA) board has appointed Samuel N. Kamau as acting executive director. Kamau has been serving at the EAFCA Secretariat as finance and administration manager.
The EAFCA secretariat in Kampala, Uganda remains active and operational. With support from the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), its regional certification and verification project has been launched.
The EAFCA board has appointed Filtone C. Sandando as International Projects Manager in charge of this project. EAFCA recently held a successful meeting with CFC and coffee stakeholders in Nairobi, Kenya, to lay out the work plan for this initiative. This is another EAFCA-managed activity being rolled out to members in all EAFCA countries.
EAFCA also announced that plans for the eighth African Fine Coffee Conference & Exhibition to.be held in Arusha, Tanzania on February 17-19, 2011, are fully underway.
